Instagram Lands on iPad Finally After 15 Long Years

  • A dedicated Instagram app has been launched for the iPad on the App Store.
  • The app has been redesigned for a larger screen on the iPad with a new Following tab.
  • The new Instagram app for iPad is available on the App Store now from today.

Watching reels on Instagram was really difficult on an iPad because there was no dedicated Instagram app made for the iPad OS. It was the same iPhone app that doesn’t use to cover the large screen properly. Along with that, the UI was also very cluttered as it was not developed for an iPad. Finally, after 15 years, a dedicated Instagram app for the iPad is now on the App Store. Let’s see how it looks and what it offers.

Instagram For iPad Is Finally Here After 15 Years

Meta has officially announced that Instagram for iPad is rolling out globally. They finally came up with a design that actually takes advantage of the bigger screen. So now, it’s not just a stretched-out iPhone app.

Reels First, Stories on Top

The new Instagram app puts Reels front and center. It means that the moment you open Instagram, you’ll land directly in Reels. Stories will be available at the top of the screen. The dm’s and other options are also easily accessible on the left. Moreover, it’s a late but much-needed update that has been pending for a long time.

New “Following” Tab

One of the most-requested features is here. A dedicated Following tab. On iPad, it comes with three filters:

  • All: Recommended posts and Reels from accounts you follow
  • Friends: Content from accounts you follow that follow you back
  • Latest: A chronological feed showing the most recent posts first

This means you finally have more control over how you want to catch up with updates from your favorite accounts.

Do More With iPad’s Big Screen

Meta says the iPad design focuses on “more features with fewer taps.” You can check messages and notifications side by side, expand comments without shrinking Reels, and enjoy a cleaner layout overall. This means that the current tab won’t be affected if another tab is opened. It’s great for tablets because it’s not possible to do the same on phones because of the smaller display.

Moreover, it’s the same Instagram, but optimized for a tablet instead of just being blown up from a phone. Instagram for iPad is now rolling out globally for all iPads running iPadOS 15.1 or later. The app is free to download on the App Store, and Meta confirmed that a similar tablet-friendly design will be coming to Android tablets soon.

How Instagram Picks Can Help Find People With Common Interests

  • Instagram is working on a new Picks feature that lets you share interests with your friends.
  • Available in the DMs tab, it will help you find friends who share the same interests as yours.
  • Here’s everything you need to know about this Instagram Picks.

Instagram is back to testing another new feature. After the recent addition of the Friends tab, the Meta-owned company is working on a new Picks feature. It lets you find friends who share the same area of interest as you. This means you can finally find that one friend who is a DC fan, not a Marvel one. Here’s how Instagram Picks will work.

Instagram’s New Picks Feature Helps You Connect With Friends Who Share Your Interests

Instagram Picks App Lets You Find People With Shared Interests

Tipster Alessandro Paluzzi has revealed photos of the upcoming Instagram Picks feature. Similar to Instagram’s Notes feature, the Interests feature will be accessible in the DMs tab. Users will see a new icon pop up at the top of the inbox section, right next to the Notes feature.

Once you select the things you like, such as your favorite TV shows, books, songs, movies, and more, it will show up in the Interests tab. Instagram will then check for similar interests in your followers tab to help you find people with the same interests.

For instance, if you like Marvel movies, then you can find people from your friends list who are deeply invested in the MCU. Instagram has confirmed to Techcrunch that the feature is currently in the “internal prototype” stage.

The company recently added the new Friends tab in Reels, and it is now taking one step further with Picks. It could be a new way to know your friends better, especially about the things they like.

All these features are in line with Instagram’s idea to become a community-centric people platform. It does not want to become yet another platform that churns out content endlessly. Instead, it wants to become a place where people can share their moments, interests, and messages.

You Can Repost, Share Location, and See What Friends Like on Instagram Now

  • Instagram is adding a new Reposts option and a Friends tab.
  • A new Map feature is also coming, letting you discover places shared by others.
  • These features are rolling out globally now, but the Map is only live in the US for now, with more global availability soon.

From endless scrolling to late-night meme sharing, Instagram has become more than just an app. It’s where we discover trends, keep up with friends, and relive memories through Stories and Reels. Whether you’re watching your favorite travel pages or reposting that perfect quote to your Story, Instagram keeps bringing something new to the app. Now there are 3 new features coming to the app. Let’s check it out.

Now You Can Repost, Share Location, and See What Friends Like on Instagram

Instagram has announced a bunch of new features that focus on making the app feel more connected and personal. From sharing your favorite Reels to seeing where your friends are and what they’re liking, everything is now a little more about your circle. They have announced new features, including reposts, an interactive map, and a new Friends tab in the Reels section.

Repost Your Favorite Reels and Posts on Instagram

Instagram has introduced a repost feature that allows you to reshare public Reels and feed posts easily. So when you repost something:

  • It appears in your followers’ feeds, potentially increasing its visibility.
  • All your reposts are saved in a dedicated “Reposts” tab on your profile, so you can revisit your favorite content anytime.

Also Read:

A key highlight of this feature is that original creators are always credited. So if you’re a content creator, your posts and Reels can be reposted by others. Those reposts can also be recommended to followers of the reposter, even if they don’t follow you. This increases your chances of being discovered by a broader audience, giving your content more reach and visibility.

How to Repost Reels or Posts

Reposting is quick and simple:

  • Step 1: Tap the repost icon on the Reel or post you want to share.
  • Step 2 (Optional): Add a personal touch by typing a note into the thought bubble that appears.
  • Step 3: Hit save, and it’s reposted to your profile.

See Where Friends Are With the Instagram Map

Instagram has added a new map feature to help you feel more connected with your friends. With this, you can share your live location with friends you choose. You’ll also be able to see where your friends are posting from.

The best part is that you have full control. Location sharing is off by default, and you decide who gets to see where you are. You can even turn it off anytime or block specific people or places.

If you’re a parent and have supervision set up, you’ll get a notification if your teen starts sharing their location, and you can control who they share with.

Apart from sharing, you can also use the map just to explore. You can check what your friends or favorite creators are posting in different places, all in one place.

Here’s what shows up on the map:

  • Reels, posts, and stories with location tags (available for 24 hours)
  • Notes from people you mutually follow (also lasts 24 hours)

To use this feature, just tap the map icon at the top of your DM screen. It’s already live in the US and rolling out to more countries soon.

See What Your Friends Are Enjoying on Reels with the New ‘Friends’ Tab

Meta is rolling out a new Friends tab in Reels globally. It will show you what your friends are engaging with. This tab will let you tap into the content your close circle is enjoying and talking about from public content they’ve liked or commented on, or clips recommended from Blends you’ve started.

You’ll also be able to view which reels your friends are creating or interacting with. You can access this tab by tapping “Friends” at the top of the Reels page.

Additionally, Meta is adding control features to let you fine-tune the experience. You can now hide your likes and comments from appearing in others’ Friends tabs or mute activity updates from specific people you follow. This is a thoughtful addition as this will make Reels feel more connected and conversational, but on your own terms.

That’s it, peeps! Stay tuned for more updates like these in the future.

Instagram’s Edits App: 5 Features You Need to Know About

With CapCut getting banned in the US, finding a replacement can be pretty hard, but not anymore. Instagram has finally announced its new Edits app. Available to download on both iOS and Android, this app is completely free to use and comes with some unique features. Here’s everything you need to know about the Edits app by Instagram.

Instagram's Edits App: 5 Features You Need to Know About

5 Instagram Edits Features Not Available on Instagram

1. Caption Generator, Object Cutout, and Audio

The Instagram Edits app has plenty of editing options, just like CapCut. It can automatically generate captions for any video, so you don’t need to work hard anymore. With the Object Cutout feature, you can cut out objects from videos and photos to add them to your projects. The best thing is that the cutout feature works automatically and is flawless. In fact, it is better than what Capcut or VN video editor offers. You can also select the portion manually in case of the automatic detection.

The interface feels similar to VN Video Editor with options to add songs from Instagram or your library. Furthermore, you can insert a voiceover, select the text style/color. There is also an object overlay letting you impose any video or image over it. You get stickers and filters from Instagram, apart from a wide range of audio effects to make your reel stand out. There are also some cool effects and transition effects that let you create some amazing edits.

Similar to how Capcut offered integration with TikTok, you can choose from trending audios from Instagram or the ones that you have saved. The app will also recommend audio to add to your clip, or you can even upload your own. Furthermore, the Edits app lets you choose a song from the vast library of songs available on Instagram. You can also choose audio from reels, including the ones from the collection of saved reels.

2. Ideas Tab For Watching Reels And (Taking Ideas)

One unique feature that sets the Edits app apart from CapCut is the Notes Tab. Here you can jot down your ideas with sticky notes. It is easy to take inspiration from your saved reels or the ones saved in your collections. If that isn’t enough, you can also watch reels to hunt for ideas.

There is an option to color-code these notes to differentiate between them. It’s a hub where you can watch other reels and get some ideas for your next reel. These notes will also appear in the saved reels section of the app.

3. Built-in Viewfinder With Green Screen

Forget the Instagram camera app for shooting videos. Edits is much better since it comes with a dedicated viewfinder. Not only can you switch between different camera lenses, but you can also set the resolution and framerate. Apart from this, you can switch between HDR and SDR video, and there’s an option to choose the recording speed. You can also set a timer or countdown if you are recording a video.

4. Watermark Free Videos and Reels Preview Option

Unlike free video editing apps, the Edits app doesn’t add any watermark when you export a video. Moreover, you can also check how the video in Instagram’s reel section looks while editing. This is useful for checking whether any elements are getting cropped out or thrown out of the frame. To do this, simply tap and hold on the preview window, and it will show you what the final output will look like.

Not only can you share and export the video without any watermark, but you can also export it up to 4K at 60 FPS. Instagram says the output is optimized for their app, so you won’t face any major dip. And you can directly share it to Instagram or Facebook from the app itself. The best part is that the app is completely free to use, and it even lets you export in HDR, which is unique.

5. Insights Tab

There is a familiar analytics feature for all the videos posted on your account. This shows you all the insights for the reels that you have posted on your account. You can check the reel views, overall reach, new followers, likes, and comments. There are also shares, and the number of people who have saved your content data. The best part is that you can view insights even if you own a personal account. Currently, Instagram requires you to switch to a professional account to access the dashboard, but you can do so within the Edits app.

It is great that you can check your insights within the Edits app, so you won’t need to open Instagram to check them. Furthermore, you can sort them based on the past 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, and even 60 days. It will also let you sort your posted reels based on the latest ones or the most watched ones.

And that’s it, folks.

Instagram Introduces New Blend Feature: How to Invite Friends

  • Instagram has unveiled a new “Blend” feature that lets you and your friends watch similar reels.
  • The feature creates a custom feed based on the content that you share with your friends, so you can have the same recommendations.
  • It is available in the latest version of the app, and here’s how you can use it.

Instagram reels can be fun, addictive, and entertaining, although they can result in endless doomscrolling. But what if you wanted to waste your time with your friends together? Instagram has introduced a new Blend feature, a custom reel feed based on what you share with your friends. Here’s how Instagram Blend works. We also share how to invite your friends to use Instagram Blend.

Instagram is adding a new Blends feature

Instagram Blend Feed: How It Works

Instagram has unveiled its Blend feature that lets you share reels with your friends in a fun new way. It’s a new feed of custom reels based on the things that you usually share with your friends. So if your friends are like me and they usually complain that they can’t see the same funny reels as you do, this is a great feature to use.

Also Read:

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri says that it’s a new way to initiate a conversation with your friends or share your interests with them. So maybe you can share those cringeworthy reels with your friends to share your trauma.

Do note that since the feature is currently rolling out, it’s only available for select chats and that too on the latest version of the app.

Here’s how you can set up the Instagram Blends feature:

  1. Open the chat or group chat where you wish to start a blend
  2. Now tap on the Blend icon next to the call option. This is denoted by a smiley icon with a plus sign next to it.
  3. If the feature is available, it will open up a new screen. Otherwise, you will get a message saying: “This feature isn’t available to all chats yet.”
  4. Once you find a chat where it’s available, press the Invite button to invite your friend.
  5. Now wait for your friend to accept the invitation. In case your friend is using an older version, they will need to update to the latest one.
  6. Once your friends tap the join button, you will see a screen explaining the Blend feature. Tap on Next and then Done to access blends.

Now, a new reels section will open up where you and your friends will see the same reels based on the content you share in the chat. You can react and even send messages to the chat from the bottom of the screen. To access this section again, you just need to open that respective chat and tap on Go to Blend. You can also click on the smiley icon next to the call button.

You can also see which person that specific reel was suggested for in the Blend. How does Instagram determine this? Well, it uses Instagram’s algorithm to suggest reels based on the reels you interact with and like.

Furthermore, even the posts and trees that you share in that chat are also taken into account. So maybe you should think twice before you turn on the Blend feature with your colleague or coworkers. Since they might end up seeing the same reels that you like.

The content shown in Blends will refresh every day, so you and your friends don’t get bored, and each chat can have a unique blend with various participants. While the company has been testing the feature since March, this is the first time it’s rolling out widely.

Crack the Code: Instagram’s New Experiment With Locked Reels

    • Instagram is testing a new locked Reels feature that requires a special code to view them.
    • Instagram’s locked reels is currently in testing and not available to use.
    • It could let brands and celebrities create exclusive reels for their most loyal followers.

Instagram working on new locked reels feature

Meta-owned Instagram is always working on new features. With the threat of a ban looming over TikTok, it’s no wonder that Instagram Reels is its most popular feature right now. The company is now working on a new feature that lets you lock reels. Yes, if your followers want to view a reel, they must enter a secret code to view it. Here’s how locked reels in Instagram works.

Instagram Testing Locked Reels That Require a Code

Instagram is currently testing the locked reels feature on its platform. Each code is accompanied by a hint that will help viewers guess the correct code. This can be something related to your brand or a detail about your personal life, such as your first car or birthday date.

Currently in the testing phase, the feature is not available to use publicly. Although it’s worth noting that Instagram has tested the feature on one of its accounts.

The company’s design account was seen using the feature prompting viewers to “Enter secret code”. The hint for the code is “1st # in the caption” of the post.

    Also Read:

Spoiler, the answer is “threads” since it’s the first hastag mentioned in the caption. After you enter the correct code, the reels say, “coming soon,” teasing the debut of the design account on Threads.

Are you wondering what the use case of this feature is? Well, it could be used by brands and celebrities alike to boost engagement. They can generate hype around an upcoming announcement or create an exclusive for their loyal followers by adding a code about something only they know; it’s a move to create engagement.

However, since it’s a locked reel, it also means that you are practically restricting your reach. Since this reel will require a follower to correctly guess a code which everyone might not be interested in. And in case you are wondering about the comments and captions on locked reels, well, they’re not visible unless you guess the code correctly.

There’s no clarity on whether users will come across these locked reels via the reels section of the app. But if they do, then it could be a hassle, as some of the reels will be locked while others won’t.

Also, incorrect codes aren’t accepted as usual. The feature works similarly to Instagram’s “Reveal” feature that lets you share a secret story that your followers can discover by sending you a DM. It’s a great way to connect with your followers and engage in conversations.

Another report by Social Media Today has revealed that the platform is also working on locked posts features. Similar to the reels, users will need to enter a code to view the posts. It could work in favor of brands by offering special discounts or updates to a specific audience to serve them better.,

Changing your Instagram username is pretty easy as you just need to follow these steps:

    1. Open Instagram and navigate to the profile tab.
    2. Tap on the Edit profile button to change your username in the username tab.
    3. Enter your new username and press Done.

Things to Consider When Choosing an Instagram Username

Have you found the perfect username that meets your match? Well, here are a few things that you should keep in mind:

    • Relevancy: Your username should suit your personality, areas of interest, or your favourite topics. This will help others understand what your profile is all about. +
    • Availability: While all the Instagram usernames for boys in this article have been double-checked for availability, if you are choosing any other username, make sure it’s available on Instagram.
    • Easy to type and remember: A good username is short, sweet, and simple. If your username is too complex or lengthy, then you might have issues sharing it with others. Also, avoid adding special characters as it will only make it harder to remember or share your username with someone else.
    • Uniqueness: In a sea of similar usernames, your profile should stand out with a unique username that will help you stand out from the crowd.
    • Avoid offensive or inappropriate usernames: To maintain decency online, avoid using inappropriate or offensive usernames. This username could also violate Instagram’s community guidelines, leading to the suspension of your account.
    • Professionalism: If your account represents your business, then it should contain relevant keywords to indicate it. For example, if you are a DJ, then your account should contain details about your services.
    • Time limit: You can change your usernames as many times as you want, although Instagram might flag a frequent change. Furthermore, you get 14 days to revert to your original username once you change it.

How to Change Your Instagram Username

    And that’s it, folks.

2 Ways to Share Your Live Location in Instagram DM

If you’re looking to share your real-time location with someone via Instagram DM, you’re in the right place. Instagram now allows you to share your live location directly within the app. Here’s how to do it, along with an alternative method using Google Maps for those who prefer it.

Instagram DMs: How to Share Your Live Location

Sharing your live location over an Instagram chat can be helpful when meeting someone or making it easier for them to find you—without giving away your WhatsApp or iMessage number. It’s also useful for coordinating with people you only know through Instagram, like a mutual from an event or meetup.

This way, you don’t have to share your phone number or any personal details beyond your Instagram profile. Plus, since not everyone uses WhatsApp or iMessage, this method helps avoid cross-platform compatibility issues.

Method 1: Using Instagram’s Built-in Live Location Feature

Meta introduced the live location sharing feature to Instagram DMs in November last year. It works for both one-on-one and group chats. Your live location cannot be forwarded to other chats, meaning only the recipient can see it on their account. It also expires automatically after an hour, but you can choose to stop sharing it anytime.

To share your location, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Instagram chat where you want to share your directions.

    2. Tap the + (plus) icon next to the message box.

    3. Choose Location.

    4. When using the feature for the first time, you’ll see an introduction to the basics. Tap Continue.

    5. Next, tap Share Your Location.

Your live location will now be shared with the other person for one hour, allowing them to view your current location and get directions to you. Tap the View button below your message to see a larger map with your live location and the remaining duration. Select Stop Sharing Location to turn it off.

Make sure you’ve set Instagram’s location access to “Always.” You can change this by going to Settings > Apps > Instagram and setting it to Always. This ensures your location is available even when you’re not actively using Instagram.

Method 2: Using Google Maps to Share Live Location on Instagram

If you don’t see the live location feature on Instagram or prefer another way, use Google Maps:

    1. Open Google Maps and tap your profile icon on the top right.
    2. Select Location Sharing and choose New Share.
    3. Set a time limit for how long you want to share it. It’s set to 1 hour by default.
    4. Copy the Link and paste it into your Instagram chat.

The other person can now use your Google Maps link to access your real-time location. You can stop sharing anytime by returning to the same page. This method works even if the other person doesn’t have Instagram’s live location feature.

These are two quick methods to share your real-time location with anyone via Instagram. Just remember to share your location only with people you trust, and turn it off as soon as you’re done. Stay safe and meet in public places when possible.
