WWDC 2025: 6 Things Apple Will Unveil at The Event

Apple’s highly anticipated annual WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) will take place tonight. The Cupertino giant is expected to announce the next iteration of all its major operating systems. With Apple set to introduce iOS 26, its biggest redesign in recent years, there’s plenty of hype surrounding the event. From new Apple Intelligence features to the Games app, here’s everything you can expect at WWDC 2025.

WWDC 2025

6 Things We Expect To See At Apple WWDC 2025

1. New Liquid Glass (Solarium) Design

The main star of the show will be Apple’s new Solarium design that embraces transparency and glassy elements. It will be available across all OS, including CarPlay, taking inspiration from visionOS. This will be the biggest iOS overhaul in recent years, or so we expect.

This Liquid Glass interface will have rounded corners, redesigned app icons, and buttons. Although, don’t expect Apple to switch to rounded icons on iOS and iPadOS yet. Furthermore, it will have pop-up menus and icons with additional options. This design will also be effective across the menu bar and the Windows buttons on Mac. Borrowing elements from visionOS. While all apps in iOS 26 will receive a fresh coat of paint, system apps like Safari, Camera, and Phone are in for a complete overhaul.

2. Leap To 26 Instead Of 19

Another major change is in the numbering itself. Instead of iOS 19, iPadOS 19, tvOS 19, VisionOS 2,macOS 16, and watchOS 12, Apple will shift to the number 26 at WWDC 2025. Codenamed Luck, Charisma, Discovery, Cheer, and Nepali, these OS will be synchronized to reflect the succeeding year. This change in numbering will be reflected via the company’s new Liquid Glass design. Just like previous macOS versions, macOS 26 will be called Tahoe based on the famous Californian Lake.

3. New Apple Intelligence Features

While AI won’t be WWDC’s focus, it will be the company’s second tryst with Apple Intelligence. Starting with the new translate feature, users can translate text anywhere in the OS. Furthermore, users will be able to live translate phone calls and texts. AirPod users will be able to live translate conversations.

Also Read:

Apple Intelligence will also be available to third-party developers, letting them create their own AI features. This will be based on Apple’s new foundational AI model. With the updated Genmoji, you can create new emojis by combining two different emojis into one. The Shortcuts app is also getting an upgrade, allowing users to generate shortcuts with just simple text prompts. There will be battery optimization baked into Apple Intelligence, releasing later this year.

4. New Games And Preview App

Remember Games Center app on iOS? Well, Apple is planning to introduce a new dedicated Gaming app to replace it. This one-stop hub will provide access to all Apple Arcade Games and will have five tabs: Home, Arcade, Play Together, Library, and Search. While Apple believes that it could promote mobile gaming, Gurman claims that the new app is underwhelming. For what it’s worth, Apple’s announcement will coincide with the sale of the Nintendo Switch 2 handheld.

Similarly, Apple plans to bring the Preview app from macOS to iOS and iPadOS. So for the first time, iPhone and iPad users will be able to view and manage PDFs without relying on third-party apps. It will be preinstalled with iOS/iPadOS 26, so you can annotate or edit PDF files on the move.

5. New Vision Pro Features

You might have forgotten the Vision Pro, but Apple still seems to remember it. The Vision Pro will finally get eye-scrolling support. This will be useful for scrolling through web pages or lengthy documents. The feature will work in both first and third-party apps.

Another upgrade will be hand controller support. Similar to PS VR, you can now use third-party controllers for specific hand movements. What’s the use case? Well, it opens up new ways to navigate the user interface and play games on VisionOS. Called the Magic Wand, it’s nowhere close to the one possessed by Harry Potter, but it’s a neat way to navigate the UI nonetheless.

6. Multitasking Features for iPad and Apple Pencil Upgrades

According to Mark Gurman, Apple is focusing on new multitasking features for the iPad. This will bring the tablet one step closer to macOS serving the needs of every power user out there. Although you will need to connect a keyboard and a trackpad to use these features. Apple is likely to promote its Magic Keyboard accessory to showcase the feature.

Another major upgrade is the virtual reed calligraphy pen for Apple Pencil users. To bring out the artist in you, Apple is bringing new Calligraphy options for users. Last but not least, users will be able to sync their Wi-Fi passwords across devices. So the next time you bring your iPad to your gym, it will be automatically connected.

WWDC 2025 Date Announced: What to Expect From Apple’s Next Event?

Apple has revealed the date for its next major event, WWDC 2025. This year’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference will be an online-only affair and will take place from June 9 to June 13, 2025. The Cupertino giant is expected to reveal new iOS, macOS, watchOS, iPadOS and tvOS versions. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming event.

WWDC 2025 dates announced

iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and MacOS 16 Expected at WWDC 2025

Apple is expected to announce iOS 19, codename “Luck”, at WWDC. It is said to be the biggest update since iOS 7. iOS 19 will bring circular icons, translucent designs, 3D depth, and shadows.

Also Read:

iOS 19 is rumoured to have a design inspired by VisionOS, with rounded elements and simplified menus. Apple’s iOS 19.4 update is likely to bring the much-awaited LLM-powered Siri. They were recently sued for delaying the same. Rumors suggest it could turn into a class action lawsuit.

This update will arrive in the Spring of 2026 and is expected to work on all iPhones including XR and above. iOS 19 could bring support for end-to-end encrypted RCS messages, offering better privacy and security for messaging apps.

Similarly, iPadOS 19 will be showcased at the event, and it is expected to drop support for iPad 7th generation. The minimum requirement for the iPadOS 19 update will be an A12 chipset. The iPadOS update will bring a new design similar to iOS 19.

While there aren’t many details about watchOS 12 and tvOS 19, many users have been pinning their hopes on the next version of watchOS. Users want to check iPhone’s battery on Apple Watch, Apple Notes for Watch, pause notifications during a workout, and more.

We can also expect updates on Apple Intelligence, the company’s infamous AI assistant, at the event. Furthermore, macOS 16 is expected to bring closer integration to iOS, support for touchscreen and a similar design with the revamped user interface. Hopefully, we can also see a better file explorer similar to Windows and more granular control, especially for split-screen multitasking.

Although WWDC 2025 is mostly focused on software announcements, we can expect a few surprises. For example, an updated Mac Pro and a second generation of AirTags. You will be able to watch the event live on Apple’s official website and YouTube channel.

3 Standout Features of Calculator App in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18

Apple has finally launched a calculator app for the iPad, and it’s not just another ordinary calculator app. You can now perform unit conversions and solve mathematical problems and expressions intuitively. Honestly, I never thought I’d be excited about a calculator app, but the new features are so impressive that I had to share. Here are three new features in the calculator app for iPhone and iPad that are worth knowing.

Must Know: Check which iPhones and iPads will receive the latest iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 updates.

1. Scientific Calculator

I can use the scientific calculator on my iPhone in portrait mode. All I have to do is tap the little calculator button in the bottom left corner and select the Scientific option. It’s that simple.

Did You Know: Apple has integrated AI, calls it Apple Intelligence, in the latest OS versions and they are pretty good. Here are 18 AI features that you can begin using this fall.

2. Unit Conversion

When working on my Windows laptop, I rely on its stock calculator app to convert currencies from US dollars to Indian rupees. I’m happy this feature is now available on iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. Notable unit conversions included in the new app are area, currency, energy, length, temperature, weight, and more.

3. Math Notes

As the name suggests, this feature helps you solve math problems – even outside the Calculator app. To use it, scribble down your math problem or expression in a note, add the equal sign, and the app will display an answer next to it.

What’s really cool is that it presents the answer to match your handwritten style. However, the full potential of Math Notes can be enjoyed on an iPad using an Apple Pencil.

Yes, the iPad finally has a calculator app. Too little too late? Not this time. You can also use the Calculator app to solve algebra equations, calculate budgets, and even create graphs with nothing but text.

Additionally, the app saves all your equations as notes in the History tab and offers the option to passcode-protect them, providing extra security and privacy.

Fun Fact: Microsoft Math Solver and Google Photomath apps have been doing similar things for years. There are several features that Apple outright copied from Android.

7 Home Screen Customization Features on iOS 18

Another year, another iOS version. Apple is focusing on making iPhones more customizable. New features like Widgets and Dynamic Wallpapers, and recent updates have added many new ways to personalize iOS. The latest update, iOS 18, is no exception. Here are the exciting new customization features in iOS 18.

Important: Here is a list of all iPhones, iPads, and Macs that will receive the latest OS versions announced.

1. Place Apps and Widgets Anywhere on the Screen

Up until now, the iPhone’s home screen didn’t allow blank spaces. If you wanted an app at the bottom for easy access, you had to fill the screen with apps or widgets.

With iOS 18, that limitation is gone. Now you can place any app or widget anywhere on the screen. Just touch and hold the app icon, tap Edit Home Screen, and when the apps start to jiggle, drag and drop them wherever you want. You can even select multiple apps and move them all at once.

2. Change App Icon Colors

You can now change the color of app icons with the new tinting feature! Simply touch and hold any blank space on the home screen, tap Edit, and then select Customize. Choose the Tinted option to pick your desired color and intensity. You’ll see a live preview, and the color will be applied instantly. Plus, a color picker icon matches colors from your wallpaper.

In addition to tinting, there’s a new dark app icons option in the same menu. However, third-party apps don’t turn dark yet in the developer beta 1.

3. Large Icons on the Home Screen

iOS 18 lets you make app icons larger on the home screen. To do this, touch and hold any blank space, tap Edit, then Customize. Choose the Large option to increase the icon size. You can see the changes instantly, just swipe up to go home and the changes will be applied instantly.

I wish we could make the app icons smaller. There aren’t many size options right now, but hopefully, we’ll see more customization in future updates.

4. Redesigned Control Center

The Control Center has been completely revamped. Now, it supports multiple pages you can scroll through to see all your options. Different controls like Home devices and Now Playing have their own pages by default. Apple is also allowing third-party app developers to create their controls for their apps.

To customize the Control Center, just long-press on any blank space in the Control Center to enter edit mode. Tap Add a Control at the bottom to add controls, just like adding widgets to your home screen. You can also move controls around just like on the new home screen. Plus, you can now change the size of each control to three different sizes.

5. Change Lock Screen Shortcuts

By default, the iPhone has Flashlight and Camera shortcuts on the lock screen. But with iOS 18, you can change these shortcuts to the ones you use most often. For example, I use the Timer every day and like to keep it handy on the lock screen. You can choose from many options like Translate, Calculator, Siri Shortcuts, Accessibility Settings, Voice Memos, Apple Wallet, and more.

To customize, long-press on the lock screen, tap Customize, and select the lock screen option. Here, you can remove the existing shortcuts and add the ones you prefer.

6. Lock Apps With Face ID

If you hand your phone to someone—whether they want to play a game, check your trip photos, or make a call—they can access all your apps since your phone is already unlocked. But with iOS 18, you can lock individual apps like banking or chat apps to keep them private. Even if someone has your unlocked phone, they can’t open these locked apps without authenticating with Face ID.

To lock an app, simply long-press on the app icon on the home screen, select the Require Face ID option, and finally click Require Face ID in the pop-up to lock it.

7. Hide Apps From the Home Screen

Besides locking apps, iOS 18 also lets you hide them. Hidden apps won’t appear on your home screen or in the settings app. To access them, you need to go to the Hidden Apps folder in the App Library and use Face ID to unlock the folder.

To hide apps, just long-press on the app icon, select the Require Face ID option, and then select the Hide and Require Face ID option in the pop-up to hide the app.

WWDC 2020 – How to Enable Private MAC Address on iOS 14?

A MAC address short for ‘Media Access Control’ address is a unique identifier that is assigned to the network interface of a machine. Every smartphone, every computer, or pretty much every device that connects to the Internet has a unique MAC address, often hardcoded in the network card of the machine, and thus remains permanent. However, there are apps and software that help you to mask your MAC address.

One little known iOS 14 feature is the ability to hide your iPhone’s true MAC address. This comes in handy when you connect to insecure public Wi-Fi like in a shopping mall or airport and don’t want the advertiser to track your movement and purchase pattern.

Why Change MAC Address

Just like an eCommerce store can track user’s online activity using trackers, cookies, and tracking pixels. Physical shopping malls that offer free WiFi, can also track your location in the store by monitoring signal strength of your phone. This helps the store to make a better profile of you, by analyzing customer engagement, visit duration, frequency of visits, and which part of the store, users spend most of their time.

Thankfully if you have an iPhone running iOS 14, you can easily mask your MAC address. Here’s how.

Enable Private MAC Address

You need to be on the latest iOS 14 to make this feature work on your iPhone and you can follow this guide to do that. Once you have the software up and running, open the Settings app, and tap Wi-Fi.

open wifi settings

Tap the info button next to the connected Wi-Fi and scroll down to find “Use Private Address”. Toggle the Switch on and that’s it. Your iPhone would now create a false MAC address and present it to the router.

enable private address

This was a quick way to enable private MAC address on your iPhone. What do you think of this method, let me know in the comments below or hit me up on Twitter?

WWDC 2020 – How to Turn On Siri Captions on iOS 14?

As good as Siri is on the iOS 14 with its redefined UI, enhanced knowledge base, and the ability to do more, it still sometimes mishears my speech. As you don’t get any captions like before there is no way of knowing if Siri heard you correctly until the command is executed. However, Apple does offer you an option to enable captions on Siri. Let’s see how.

Turn On Siri Captions

The latest Siri UI doesn’t take up the entire screen but a small portion of the bottom of the screen. To turn on the captions, open the Settings and scroll down to find Siri & Search.

settings app to find Siri and search

In Siri & Search, tap Siri Feedback to open the settings page. Here you can simply turn on the switch next to “Always Show Siri Captions” and ” Always  Show Speech”.

open siri feedback and enable siri captions

That’s it, Siri would now show a live transcription of your speech onscreen for all the requests. In my opinion, I find it easier to use Siri as I can see if Siri has heard me correctly or if I need to repeat the command and start over. What do you think? Do you prefer Siri without Captions or with it? Let me know in the comments below or hit me up on Twitter.

WWDC 2020 – How To Take Mirrored Selfies on iPhone?

If you take selfies from your iPhone, you might have noticed the final picture is a flipped version of the original one. That’s is, the left side of the picture becomes the right side and vice versa. This feature makes sure the final image is more intuitive and closer to what you really looked like at the moment the photo was taken. However, if you prefer the mirrored version more than the natural version, iOS 14 now gives you the option to do that as well. Let’s see how.

Option I – If You Have iOS 14

To be able to do this, you’d need iOS 14 running on your iPhone which you can do by following this guide. Once you have the latest software up and running on the iPhone, simply tap the Settings app and scroll down to find the Camera app.

Find the Camera App

Tap the Camera app and toggle the switch next to Mirror Selfies. When enabled, your selfies would remain in the mirrored state and when you disable this toggle, the selfies would be saved as how it has always been, natural.

toggle the switch next to Mirror Front Camera

Option II – If You Don’t Have iOS 14

Before iOS 14, if you wanted to have mirrored selfies then your only option was to manually flip the images using the inbuilt editor in the Photos app. If you want to flip the image after you’ve captured it, open the Photos app and tap the image you want to flip. Tap the Edit button on the top right corner and select the crop function from the bottom.

edit the image and select the crop function

On the top left corner, you’d find the flip button, tap the flip button on the top left corner to mirror your Selfie and select Done.

tap flip vertically to mirror your selfie

Final Words

These were quick ways to mirror your selfies on iPhone. It’s nice to see that Apple has finally given the option to choose which orientation of selfies to keep. I personally like the natural version but if you like the mirrored version more, there’s an option for that as well. Let me know if you have any doubts in the comments below or reach out to me on Twitter.

WWDC 2020 – macOS Big Sur Tips, Tricks And Best Features

Apple announced its latest macOS also known as Big Sur at WWDC 2020. It has received a major feature-upgrade and design overhaul which means even bigger things for the final release. I’ve been using it since day one and I have found a few features, tips, and tricks that you’d love it. Let’s check it out.

As the final version isn’t released yet, this list won’t be complete but as I discover new features and Apple rolls them out in future updates, I’d be updating this article.

Best macOS Big Sur Features

1. Customizable Control Center

Being a part of iOS and iPadOS for years, Control Center has finally made its way to macOS and it brings a sense of continuity across the entire ecosystem. Using it is just as simple, click the Control Center icon on the top right and there you have access to all the quick action buttons such as Brightness, Sound, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. You can customize the icons and bring them to the Menubar for even quicker access.

2. Widgets

Just like iOS 14, Widgets are available for macOS Big Sur and are quite similar to the mobile counterpart. The widgets follow the same small, medium, and large size profile that you can adjust in the edit window. However, my only complaint about the Widgets is that those are present in the Notification panel and there isn’t a way to keep them floating over other windows.

3. Interactive Notifications

Notifications are a big part of the macOS and it’s getting an upgrade. You would be able to interact with the notifications and take action just by clicking and holding the notification. For instance, if you get a Calendar notification about an upcoming event, you could just click and hold to open a preview of the even in your calendar. Neat.

4. Battery Usage History

The Battery monitor on the iPhone is a really insightful tool that lets you analyze the behavior of apps that use the most juice on the device. Now, you’d be able to track the Battery usage on your MacBooks running macOS Big Sur as well. It would tell you stats about the last charge status, apps consuming most battery, trends, etc.

5. Automatic Device Switching with AirPods

AirPods were never truly seamless if you include macOS and that is all going to change with the latest OS updates. iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and macOS Big Sur would bring true seamlessness to AirPods and you won’t have to manually disconnect and connect the AirPods to your computer anymore. For instance, you’re watching a movie on iPad and a call comes, your AirPods would automatically route to the device you receive the call on.

6. Hover to Preview On Safari

The Safari web browser is getting an update as well and now the webpages would load faster, you would be able to customize the homepage, and even import your passwords from Chrome. Web previews would let you see a quick snippet of the webpage without changing tabs. Simply hover the cursor over a tab and view a preview, it’s pretty convenient.

7. Add Photos to Notes with iPhone/iPad

macOS Big Sur makes adding images to your notes easier than ever. Simply click the Photos button on the Notes app and select Take Photo. It would open the Camera of your nearby iPhone or iPad and upload the photo directly to the note.

8. Live Updates for Shared ETA

While this feature is available for iPhones as well but I like the fact that they offered it here. Now, whenever your friends or family share their ETA through Apple Maps, you’d be able to get live updates of their location. It makes it so much easier to estimate when they would be arriving or are they stuck in traffic.

Final Words

These were some of the best features, tips, and tricks that you should know about the latest macOS Big Sur. As new features get released, I’d add and update the items on the list. Right now, my favorite features of macOS Big Sur are the Control Center and Safari updates but what about you? What’s your favorite feature of Big Sur? Let me know in the comments below.

How to Get Back The Fullscreen Call Notification on iOS 14?

Since iOS 14, iPhone will no longer use a full-screen call notification. It’ll rather show, a minimal notification with the caller’s name at the top of your screen. You can either accept or reject the call or simply flick the notification away, so you can continue whatever you were doing on your iPhone.

While most people, including me, prefer the new call notification on the iPhone, there are a lot of older folks who find the new layout confusing as it sometimes shows banner notifications and sometimes full-screen calls. If you ever want to change the call notification back to full screen then here’s a quick way to do that from iOS settings. Let’s begin.

Enable Fullscreen Call Notification

The Banner-style notification is a less intrusive way to get calls on your iPhone and it works for FaceTime, WhatsApp, and normal calls. With the release of iOS 14 Developer Beta, the incoming calls would show up on the entire screen when the iPhone is locked but only as notification Banner when you’re using it. You can permanently show it as a full-screen call by changing the settings. Open the Settings app and scroll down to Phone.

Phone app in the Settings

Tap Incoming Calls and select Full Screen. There you go, that’s all you need to do and now normal calls will take up the entire screen.

select full screen in incoming calls

Final Words

This was a quick way to set up calls to show up as Fullscreen calls. It is extremely helpful in some cases such as when older folks are not used to the updated layout. This setting would apply to all the apps that have a calling feature such as FaceTime, WhatsApp, etc and force all the calls to show as full-screen notifications. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.
